PEIrefers to polyetherimide (Polyetherimide) abbreviation,is a thermoplastic engineering resin, appearing as an amber transparent solid, with inherent flame retardancy and low smoke without any additives, and an oxygen index of47%, the combustion grade isUL94-V-0level, density is1.28~1.42g/cm3.
PEIIt has strong high-temperature stability, even non-reinforcedPEI, still has good toughness and strength. Therefore, utilizingPEIits excellent thermal stability can be used to make high-temperature resistant components. It has excellent mechanical properties, electrical insulation properties, radiation resistance, high and low-temperature resistance, and wear resistance, and can be penetrated by microwaves.PEIIt also has good flame retardancy, chemical resistance, and electrical insulation characteristics. The glass transition temperature is very high, reaching215℃.PEIand has a very low shrinkage rate and good isotropic mechanical properties. Adding glass fiber, carbon fiber, or other fillers can achieve reinforcement modification; it can also form heat-resistant polymer alloys with other engineering plastics, which can be used for a long time at working temperatures of-160to180℃.

UsedPEIto replace metal in the manufacture of fiber optic connectors, which can optimize component structure, simplify manufacturing and assembly steps, and maintain more precise dimensions.
Used in the automotive field, such as for manufacturing high-temperature connectors, high-power car lights and indicators, sensors for controlling the external temperature of the car cabin (air conditioning temperature sensors), and sensors for controlling the temperature of air and fuel mixtures (effective combustion temperature sensors).
It can also be used as a vacuum pump impeller resistant to high-temperature lubricating oil erosion, in180℃operation of the steam generator's ground glass joint (connection interface), and the reflector of non-illuminating anti-fog lights.
